Illustration Friday - Theater

i am a teensy bit obsessed with geisha stuff so this might seem like a stretch but i definitely thought this painting was very relevant to the illustration friday theme...i mean: costume, make-up, painted set in the background, drama...Theater!

She is very theatrical--not a stretch at all. I love your style and enjoyed visiting your etsy shop too!

I thought it was just me! I have watched and read Memoirs of a Geisha so many times it's just crazy. Love this illustration. It's more like fine art!!! She is beautiful. I adore the look on face! So theatrical and yes mysterious and dare I say, a little sexy too. Great style you have. thanks so much for stopping by my blog. I really appreciate it!

I would think that her whole life would be something of "theater"--certainly the make-up and the way she dresses, but also all of her actions and the way she presents herself in the world. Where is the REAL woman? Or, once a geisha, that's all she is? (I haven't read Memoirs of a Geisha--I probably should)

Lovely painting!

Gorgeous! Lovely color - beautiful job.

Very nicely done. It fits the theme if you think of the stereotype of Kabuki Theatre--where traditionally there is often a male actor playing a Geshia.

she is gorgeous! and really soft and interesting to look at

you can create a deck of cards out of your beautiful ladies... something like taro :)

or you can come up with your own deck. like "personality" deck. or "what type of a woman are you" deck.. lol..

vAdrienne, I'm new to your blog and I have to tell you...I just love, love, love your style! Is it pen and ink and then watercolors? The lines are so important in your work and they play beautifully against the softer colors.
