Illustration Friday - Confined or...

Alice in the House!

i can't imagine feeling any more confined than eating so much cake and cookies that you can't fit through the front door, although i have certainly tried to find out...

My 9-year-old posed for this...one of the few times she did so willingly

  1. Nice one, Adrienne. It really does convey a feeling of confinement or claustrophobia. I've got your blog on my RSS reader and get to see your new paintings as you post them. It's great. It would be nice if there was a comment button that would show up with it so I wouldn't forget to comment. :-)

  6. Love this illustration. Exactly describes confined and does make me feel slightly claustrophobic. Lucky you having a model even if it is a reluctant one!

  8. Very lovely. I knew it was Alice even before I read the description. You definitely captured emotion with her expression-she seems melancholy.

  10. I love this one, but it does give me shivers. Reminds me of the time I was supposed to have an MRI. I was fine till I opened my eyes and found I couldn't even move my arms it was so tight in there. I pushed the button really quick and said no way. I heard the open MRI's are better, but I'm too chicken to find out.
    Anyways, I adore your work!

  16. I really like this. It's a shift from a lot of your other paintings. It feels really claustrophobic.

I still have my seventeen-year-old pose for me sometimes. He's pretty willing, especially if it involves swords or clubs.

  20. I really like your artistic/illustrative style. My 14 old son is occasionally an unwilling model as well but those are always my favorite finished pieces. Great illo!
